Model with battery
Automatic dog feeder with no plug, with battery
The Producan automatic dog feeder P3 has an internal 12 V battery and runs for around 3 months with no plug with 4 feeds a day, so it can go on a smallholding, a yard or a shed with no mains power. It also works plugged into the mains: both ways are there, you don't have to choose for good.
How long does the battery really last?
Around 3 months set to 4 feeds a day. The figure depends on how many times the mechanism opens: with 2 feeds a day it lasts quite a bit longer, and with 8 it's down to around half. The timer uses very little power; what drains it is the motor each time it dispenses.
What happens when it runs out?
It recharges with the 12 V charger included, or you can swap it for another. We sell the battery only, the charger only and the pack of both, which is what people usually get when they want a charged spare battery so they don't have to wait.
Is there a solar version?
We don't sell one. The P3's 12 V battery can be charged with a solar panel and regulator of the kind used in caravans, and some customers do that, but the panel isn't ours, we don't supply it and we don't guarantee that setup. We'd rather say so than sell a compatibility we don't control.
